Puzzle Mansion

Art museum

Tagaytay City is a popular destination among locals and tourists due to its cold climate, accessibility from Manila, and breathtaking view of Taal Volcano. It also offers an array of dining selections and recreational activities, perfect for families and groups of friends.

Puzzle Mansion is among the exciting places visitors, particularly those puzzle enthusiasts, often include in their city tour, as it houses an extensive collection of rare and popular puzzles.

About Puzzle Mansion

Puzzle Mansion is the only jigsaw puzzle museum in the world and is owned by Georgina Gil-Lucana, a businesswoman and a jigsaw puzzle collector. She opened the museum in November 2012 after receiving a Guinness World Records award for having the most extensive collection of jigsaw puzzles in the world.

The museum houses a total of 1,028 sets of jigsaw puzzles, all assembled by Lacuna herself. The collection consists of 2D, 3D, and 4D puzzles, including replications of paintings by world-renowned artists, such as Degas, Gaudi, Michelangelo, Picasso, Van Gogh, and arts with cultural and pop references.

What to see and try at the Puzzle Mansion?

As the museum’s puzzle collection have different dimensions, sizes, genres, sources, subject matter, and art forms, visitors can enjoy and appreciate embossed puzzles, ventricular puzzles, posters, and photos. It also has several cityscape puzzles, which include cityscapes of Chicago, Las Vegas, and Tokyo.

Although there are more than a thousand sets of puzzles to see in the museum, three big puzzle sets are worth checking out when visiting the mansion. The most significant puzzle set consists of 33,600 puzzle pieces, and it was a replica of Adrian Chesterman’s painting called “The Wildlife.” The second biggest puzzle set is the pop art of Keith Haring and has 32,256 puzzle pieces. And Royce McClure’s art is called “Life,” which consists of 24,000 puzzle pieces.

Aside from puzzles, patrons are also given other reasons to visit the Puzzle Mansion. Before it became a museum, the Puzzle Mansion originally opened as a bed and breakfast place in 2010. Hence, it also offers accommodation, the Puzzle Mansion Bed and Breakfast.

The Puzzle Mansion also has a restaurant, garden, pool, and a souvenir shop, which sells a large variety of puzzle, Tagaytay and Puzzle Mansion shirts, and other souvenir items. The mansion and museum are open for operations on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
